We have prepared a comprehensive PDF containing exam-level questions. We have chosen questions that are exactly at the RRB Group D level—not too hard, but conceptual. Download it, save it, and practice these questions to build your confidence.
Q1. If 80% of A = 50% of B, and B = x% of A, find the value of x.
(a) 160
(b) 150
(c) 140
(d) 130
Answer: (a) 160
Logic:
80A/100 = 50B/100
⇒ 8A = 5B
⇒ B = (8/5)A
⇒ B = 160% of A
So, x = 160
Q2. The price of sugar increases by 25%. By what percentage should consumption be reduced so that expenditure remains the same?
(a) 25%
(b) 20%
(c) 30%
(d) 15%
Answer: (b) 20%
Logic:
Required decrease = R / (100 + R) × 100
= 25 / 125 × 100
= 20%
Q3. A student has to secure 33% marks to pass. He scored 125 marks and failed by 40 marks. Find the maximum marks.
(a) 500
(b) 600
(c) 400
(d) 300
Answer: (a) 500
Logic:
Passing marks = 125 + 40 = 165
33% = 165
1% = 5
100% = 500
Q4. If the numerator of a fraction is increased by 20% and the denominator is decreased by 5%, the new fraction becomes 5/2. Find the original fraction.
(a) 24/19
(b) 95/48
(c) 48/95
(d) 19/24
Answer: (b) 95/48
Logic:
Let original fraction = x/y
New fraction = (120x)/(95y) = 5/2
⇒ x/y = (5/2) × (95/120)
⇒ x/y = 95/48
Q5. In an election, a candidate secured 55% of the votes and won by 500 votes. Find the total number of valid votes.
(a) 4000
(b) 5000
(c) 6000
(d) 2500
Answer: (b) 5000
Logic:
Difference = 55% − 45% = 10%
10% = 500
100% = 5000
Q6. A man spends 75% of his income. His income increases by 20% and expenditure increases by 10%. Find the percentage increase in savings.
(a) 50%
(b) 25%
(c) 30%
(d) 10%
Answer: (a) 50%
Logic:
Let income = 100
Expenditure = 75
Saving = 25
New income = 120
New expenditure = 75 + 10% of 75 = 82.5
New saving = 120 − 82.5 = 37.5
Increase = 12.5
Percentage increase = (12.5 / 25) × 100 = 50%
Q7. If A exceeds B by 40% and B is less than C by 20%, find the ratio A : C.
(a) 28 : 25
(b) 14 : 25
(c) 25 : 28
(d) 28 : 20
Answer: (a) 28 : 25
Logic:
Let C = 100
B = 80
A = 80 + 40% of 80 = 112
A : C = 112 : 100 = 28 : 25
Q8. The population of a town increases by 5% per year. If the present population is 8000, find the population after 2 years.
(a) 8800
(b) 8820
(c) 8400
(d) 9000
Answer: (b) 8820
Logic:
Population after 2 years
= 8000 × (105/100) × (105/100)
= 8820
Q9. Two numbers are respectively 20% and 50% more than a third number. Find their ratio.
(a) 2 : 5
(b) 3 : 5
(c) 4 : 5
(d) 5 : 4
Answer: (c) 4 : 5
Logic:
Let third number = 100
First number = 120
Second number = 150
Ratio = 120 : 150 = 4 : 5
Q10. A number is first decreased by 10% and then increased by 10%. The final number is 10 less than the original. Find the original number.
(a) 1000
(b) 2000
(c) 1500
(d) 500
Answer: (a) 1000
Logic:
Net change = −1%
1% = 10
100% = 1000
