The NICL Assistant Result PDF primarily contains the list of candidates shortlisted for the Main Examination.
Candidates can expect the result document to provide information such as:
Since the result is released as a shortlist, candidates should use the roll number as the primary way to search the PDF.
Candidates whose roll numbers appear in the NICL Assistant Preliminary Result PDF have qualified the Phase-I stage and have been shortlisted to participate in the Main Examination.
The shortlisting allows them to move to the next stage of the recruitment process. However, candidates should remember that qualifying the Preliminary Examination alone does not mean final selection.
The Main Examination plays an important role in the subsequent selection process, followed by the Regional Language Test as applicable.
The NICL Assistant Mains Exam Date 2026 is 30 October 2026.
Candidates whose roll numbers are included in the Preliminary Result should immediately shift their preparation towards the Main Examination.
The Main Examination consists of 200 objective questions carrying 200 marks with a total duration of 120 minutes.
| Section | Questions | Marks | Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reasoning Ability | 40 | 40 | 30 Minutes |
| English Language | 40 | 40 | 30 Minutes |
| Numerical Ability | 40 | 40 | 30 Minutes |
| General Awareness | 40 | 40 | 15 Minutes |
| Computer Knowledge | 40 | 40 | 15 Minutes |
| Total | 200 | 200 | 120 Minutes |
The Main Examination includes separate sectional timings, so candidates should practise according to the exact time limits instead of treating the entire 120 minutes as a single pool of time.
There is also a penalty for incorrect answers in the objective examination.
The NICL Assistant Selection Process consists of three major stages:
Preliminary Examination → Main Examination → Regional Language Test
Candidates first have to qualify the Preliminary Examination to become eligible for the Main Examination.
Candidates who meet the required standard in the Main Examination move to the Regional Language Test as prescribed for the recruitment.
The Regional Language Test is qualifying in nature. Candidates must satisfy the language requirement applicable to the State or Union Territory for which they have applied.
Candidates whose roll numbers are present in the result PDF should not wait for the scorecard before beginning Mains preparation.
The next major stage is the NICL Assistant Main Examination on 30 October 2026.
Candidates should focus on:
Because the Mains has separate sectional timings, candidates should practise solving each section within its allotted time.
The result PDF and scorecard serve different purposes.
The Prelims Result PDF identifies the candidates shortlisted for the Main Examination through their roll numbers.
The scorecard/marks provide the candidate’s individual examination performance.
Candidates should therefore not assume that the roll-number result PDF itself will contain their detailed marks.
NICL may release the detailed scorecard or marks separately through the official website. Candidates should check the official recruitment page for further updates regarding marks and cutoff.
The NICL Assistant Preliminary Examination cut-off determines the candidates shortlisted for the Main Examination.
The final cut-off may vary based on factors such as:
Candidates should distinguish between the official cut-off marks and the qualifying status shown in the result PDF.
The result PDF confirms shortlisting, while the detailed scorecard and official cutoff information provide a clearer picture of the marks obtained and qualifying benchmark.
Candidates should keep the following points in mind after the result announcement:
