Step-by-Step Strategy to Solve Month-Based Puzzle in 3-4 Minutes

Before solving the questions, candidates carefully read the step-by-step strategy to solve the month-based puzzle. Candidates first read this strategy so that they can know how to solve the questions:

Step 1: Read the Question Carefully (30 seconds)

  • First, identify how many persons/events are involved.
  • Check if the puzzle is for 1 year or 2 years.
  • Note whether there is an additional attribute (profession, color, etc.).

Step 2: Create a Timeline/Table (30–40 seconds)

  • Draw a straight line or table with months in order.
  • If it’s a two-year puzzle, make two separate timelines (Year 1 and Year 2).
  • Keep space for writing additional attributes if given.

Step 3: Place Direct Information First (1 minute)

  • Any clue that gives the exact placement should be filled immediately.
  • Example: “A’s interview is in June” → Write A in June directly.

Step 4: Handle Conditional Clues Systematically (1 minute)

  • Look for comparative clues like:
    • “B’s interview is two months after A’s.”
    • “Only one person is between C and D.”
  • Don’t rush—place them in relation to already fixed points.
  • If multiple possibilities arise, note both possibilities lightly and confirm as the puzzle progresses.

Step 5: Eliminate Contradictions and Finalise (30–40 seconds)

  • As you proceed, some options will get automatically eliminated.
  • Keep checking conditions after each placement.
  • Once all slots are filled correctly, quickly cross-check every clue to ensure accuracy.
