Inequalities For IBPS RRB Exam: Inequalities are a common question in the preliminary exam of almost all banking exams. Hence, it becomes an important topic to prepare for it. If you look at the previous years RRB Clerk preliminary exam analysis, you can clearly see that there were 4-5 questions on this topic. In inequalities questions, you are given some statements with some relations between them. These relations can be <, >, ≤, ≥, = and ≠. You are then given some conclusions and asked to choose which of the given conclusions is true or not. In this article we are sharing the Inequalities preparation for the IBPS RRB 2024 exam, candidates can check all important details in the article below.

Inequalities For IBPS RRB Exam

Here we are providing the IBPS RRB Inequalities statement details. Candidates check all details in the table below and check all statements in IBPS RRB Inequalities.

StatementMeaning
a < ba is less than b
a ≤ ba is less than or equal to b
a = ba is equal to b
a ≥ ba is greater than or equal to b
a > ba is greater than b
a ≠ ba isn’t equal to b

Please keep in mind that only those conclusions will be true which are definitely true in the given statements. If you’re not sure about the relationship asked in the given question or the data is insufficient, you need to answer accordingly. Also the fact that combining statements will help you in answering the questions quickly and easily. When combining statements, use the common terms. We’ll show you examples with explanations below:

Question 1: In the question, assuming the given statements to be true, find which of the conclusion (s) among given three conclusions is /are definitely true and then give your answer accordingly.

Statements:

B< A ≤ T; Z < D ≤ B > F; Z > G ≥ H

Conclusions:

I. T > F

II. A > Z

III. H < B

A) Only conclusion I is true.

B) Only conclusions I and II are true

C) Only conclusion III is true.

D) Only conclusions II and III are true

E) All conclusions I, II and III are true

Solution 1: E)

Given statements:

B < A ≤ T; Z < D ≤ B > F; Z > G ≥ H

On combining, we get

T ≥ A > B > F; A > B ≥ D > Z > G ≥ H

Conclusions:

I. T > F: True (As T ≥ A >B> F, so T> F)

II. A >Z: True (As A >B ≥ D >Z, so A >Z)

III. H < B: True (As B ≥ D > Z > G ≥ H, so H < B)

Hence, option e.

Question 2: In the question, relationship between some elements is shown in the statement(s). These statements are followed by three conclusions. Read the statements and give answer:

Statements:

P ≤ D < G; C ≥ Z = Y; X< A = C ≥ D

Conclusions:

I. Y ≤ A

II. P ≤ C

III. X< D

A) Only conclusion II is true

B) Only conclusions II and III are true

C) All the conclusions are true

D) Only conclusions I and II are true

E) None is true

Solution 2: D)

Given statements: P ≤ D < G; C ≥ Z = Y; X< A = C ≥ D

On combining, we get

X< A = C ≥ Z = Y; P ≤ D ≤ C = A >X

Conclusions:

I. Y ≤ A: True (As A = C ≥ Z = Y, so Y ≤ A)

II. P ≤ C: True (As P ≤ D ≤ C, so P ≤ C)

III. X< D: False (As D ≤ C = A >X, relation between X and D cannot be determined)

Only conclusions I and II are true.

Hence, option d.

Question 3: In the question, relationship between some elements is shown in the statement(s). These statements are followed by three conclusions. Read the statements and give answer:

Statements:

I ≤ X < K; C ≥ Z = F; B <M = C ≥ X

Conclusions:

I. F ≤ M

II. I ≤ C

III. B < X

A) Only conclusion II is true.

B) Only conclusions II and III are true

C) All the conclusions I, II and III are true

D) Only conclusions I and II are true

E) None is true

Solution 3: D)

Given statements:

I ≤ X < K; C ≥ Z = F; B <M = C ≥ X

On combining, we get

B < M = C ≥ Z = F; I ≤ X ≤ C = M> B

Conclusions:

I. F ≤ M: True (As M = C ≥ Z = F, so F ≤ M)

II. I ≤ C: True (As I ≤ X ≤ C, so I ≤ C)

III. B < X: False (As X ≤ C = M> B, relation between B and X cannot be determined)

Only conclusions I and II are true.

Hence, option d.

Question 4: Which of the following symbols should replace the question marks (?) in the given expression in order to make the expressions ‘S ≥ D’ definitely true?

T (?) V ≥ D; G < S ≥ T

A) <

B) ≤

C) ≥

D) >

E) None of the above

Solution 4: C)

T (?) V ≥ D; G < S ≥ T

On combining, G < S ≥ T (?) V ≥ D

Replacing the signs of option (a) in the given inequality, G < S ≥ T < V ≥ D, it doesn’t satisfy the given condition.

Replacing the signs of option (b) in the given inequality, G < S ≥ T ≤ V ≥ D, it doesn’t satisfy the given condition.

Replacing the signs of option (c) in the given inequality, G < S ≥ T ≥ V ≥ D, it satisfies the given condition.

Replacing the signs of option (d) in the given inequality, G < S ≥ T > V ≥ D, it doesn’t satisfy the given condition.

Hence, option c.

Question 5: In the question, assuming the given statements to be true, find which of the conclusion (s) among given three conclusions is /are definitely true and then give your answer accordingly.

Statements: M < K ≤ R; B ≤ L > M; C < R

Conclusions:

I. B < R

II. L > C

III. R > M

A) Only conclusion I is true

B) Only conclusions I and II are true

C) Only conclusion III is true

D) All conclusions I, II and III are false

E) Only conclusions II and III are true

Solution 5: C)

Given statements: M < K ≤ R; B ≤ L > M; C < R

On combining, we get

B ≤ L > M < K ≤ R > C

Conclusions:

I. B < R: False (As B ≤ L > M < K ≤ R, relation between B and R can’t be determined)

II. L > C: False (As L > M < K ≤ R > C, relation between L and C can’t be determined)

III. R > M: True (As M < K ≤ R, so R > M)

Hence, option c.

Question 6: Which of the following symbols should replace the question marks (?) in the given expression in order to make the expressions ‘T > O’ definitely true?

O < S = E (?) C; T (?)C

A) ≥, =

B) ≥, <

C) ≥, ≤

D) <, >

E) None of the above

Solution 6: D)

O < S = E (?) C; T (?) C

Replacing the signs of option (a) in the given inequality, O < S = E ≥ C; T = C; T > O doesn’t satisfy the given condition.

Replacing the signs of option (b) in the given inequality, O < S = E ≥ C; T < C; T > O doesn’t satisfy the given condition.

Replacing the signs of option (c) in the given inequality, O < S = E ≥ C; T ≤ C; T > O doesn’t satisfy the given condition.

Replacing the signs of option (d) in the given inequality, O < S = E < C; T > C; T > O satisfies the given condition.

Hence, option d.

Question 7: In the question, assuming the given statements to be true, find which of the conclusion (s) among given three conclusions is /are definitely true and then give your answer accordingly.

Statements: L = Q < M ≤ C; Q > B ≥ P > Z < V

Conclusions:

I. C > Z

II. L < V

III. M > P

A) Only conclusions I and II are true

B) Only conclusions I and III are true

C) Only conclusion II is true

D) Only conclusion I is true

E) All conclusions I, II and III are true

Solution 7: B)

Given statements: L = Q < M ≤ C; Q > B ≥ P > Z < V

On combining, we get,

C ≥ M > Q > B ≥ P > Z < V; L = Q > B ≥ P > Z < V

Conclusions:

I. C > Z: True (As C ≥ M > Q > B ≥ P > Z, so, C > Z)

II. L < V: False (As L = Q > B ≥ P > Z < V, so, the relation between L and V cannot be determined)

III. M > P: True (As M > Q > B ≥ P, so,M > P)

So, only conclusion I and III follow.

Hence, option b.

Question 8: What should come in the place of question mark, in the given expressions to make ‘W > T’ always true?

W ≥ X ≥ Y = Z _? _ S > T

A) ≤

B) <

C) =

D) Either (a) or (b)

E) Either (b) or (c)

Solution 8: C)

Given expression:

W ≥ X ≥ Y = Z _? _ S > T

On putting the symbol given in option (a) in the inequality, we get (W ≥ X ≥ Y = Z  S > T), it doesn’t satisfy the given condition.

On putting the symbol given in option (b) in the inequality, we get (W ≥ X ≥ Y = Z < S > T), it doesn’t satisfy the given condition.

On putting the symbol given in option (c) in the inequality, we get (W ≥ X ≥ Y = Z S > T), it satisfies the given condition

Hence, option c.

Question 9: In the following question the relationship between different elements are given in the statements followed by three conclusions I, II, and III. Read the statements carefully and mark your answer accordingly.

Statements: A > B < C ≥ D; D = E ≥ F = G ≥ H

Conclusions:

I. C = H

II. C > H

III. A ≥ E

A) Only Conclusion I is true

B) Only Conclusion II is true

C) Only Conclusion III is true

D) Only Conclusion I and III are true

E) None of the above

Solution 9: E)

Given statements: A > B < C ≥ D; D = E ≥ F = G ≥ H

On combining the given statements, we get:

A > B < C ≥ D = E ≥ F = G ≥ H

Conclusions:

I. C = H: False (As C ≥ D = E ≥ F = G ≥ H, so, C ≥ H).

II. C > H: False (As C ≥ D = E ≥ F = G ≥ H, so, C ≥ H).

But they make a complimentary pair, so either (C = H) or (C > H) is true.

III. A ≥ E: False (As A > B < C ≥ D = E, so the relationship between A and E can’t be determined).

Either Conclusion I or II is true.

Hence, option e.

Question 10: Which of the symbol should replace the question mark (?) in the given expression in order to make the expressions ‘Q > R’ and ‘P ≥ M’ definitely true?

Q > P = O ≥ L_?_N = M ≥ R

A) >

B) <

C) ≥

D) ≤

E) None of the above

Solution 10: C)

Given expression: Q > P = O ≥ L_?_N = M ≥ R

Replacing the sign given in option (a) in the given inequality, Q > P = O ≥ L N = M ≥ R, it doesn’t satisfy the given condition.

Replacing the sign given in option (b) in the given inequality, Q > P = O ≥ L N = M ≥ R, it doesn’t satisfy the given condition.

Replacing the sign given in option (c) in the given inequality, Q > P = O ≥ L ≥ N = M ≥ R, it satisfies the given condition.

Replacing the sign given in option (d) in the given inequality, Q > P = O ≥ L ≤ N = M ≥ R, it doesn’t satisfy the given condition.

Hence, option c.
