How to Boost Your Preparation for RRB NTPC CBT 1?
Look at the calendar. The RRB NTPC 2026 CBT-1 exams are officially starting from 16th March 2026. Do you feel like you have forgotten every math formula or history date you studied? Relax, take a deep breath. This happens to every serious candidate. Right now, opening a 500-page history book might be the biggest mistake you can make. It is time to shift your focus from “Hard Study” to “Smart Study”. If your mock test scores are stuck in the 50s or 60s, do not panic. In this blog, we have shared the exact secrets on how to boost your preparation for RRB NTPC CBT 1 in these final days and push your score to the 80+ safe zone.
In CBT 1, General Awareness (GA) carries the highest weightage—40 out of 100 marks. The best part? It takes only 10 to 12 minutes to solve because there is zero calculation. You either know the answer or you don’t.
You have 90 minutes to solve 100 questions. That is less than a minute per question! Knowledge alone will not save you; speed will.
Maths (30 marks) and Reasoning (30 marks) are the sections where you can achieve 100% accuracy.
This is where 80% of students fail. RRB NTPC has a very dangerous 1/3rd negative marking. For every three wrong answers, one correct mark is stolen from you.
When you sit in front of the computer screen, do not solve questions from 1 to 100 in a straight line. Follow the “Three Round Strategy”:
You have sacrificed your sleep, your festivals, and your fun times for this one exam. Do not let fear ruin your hard work at the last moment. Trust your preparation. Eat healthy, sleep for at least 7 hours so your brain can recall formulas, and stay away from negative people who say the exam is too hard. You have the potential to clear this. Keep smiling, stay confident, and let’s crack RRB NTPC 2026.

While the exact cutoff depends on your railway zone and paper difficulty, aiming for a consistent score of 75 to 80+ marks is considered highly safe for the General (UR) category.
You should aim to take one full-length mock test daily, or at least every alternate day. The key is to spend proper time analyzing your mistakes after every test.
It is highly recommended to attempt the General Awareness section first. It takes very little time and instantly boosts your confidence, leaving you with plenty of time for Maths and Reasoning.
Yes, there is a strict 1/3rd negative marking. If you guess blindly and get three answers wrong, one full mark will be deducted from your total score.
