Blood Relation Questions for SSC MTS

Q1. Pointing to a photograph, a man said, “He is the son of the only son of my grandfather.” How is the man in the photograph related to the man speaking?
(A) Brother
(B) Son
(C) Uncle
(D) Nephew
Answer: (B) Son
Logic: “Only son of my grandfather” means the speaker’s own father. The “son of the speaker’s father” is the speaker himself. But since he is pointing to a boy, it can be his brother, or if the speaker is the only son, it is his own son. Let’s assume the speaker is the only son. So, the boy is his son.
Q2. Pointing to a woman, Rahul said, “Her mother is the only daughter of my mother.” How is Rahul related to the woman?
(A) Father
(B) Uncle (Maternal)
(C) Brother
(D) Husband
Answer: (B) Uncle (Maternal)
Logic: “Only daughter of my mother” means Rahul’s sister. So, the woman is the daughter of Rahul’s sister. This makes Rahul her maternal uncle or Mama.
Q3. A woman introduces a man as the son of the brother of her mother. How is the man related to the woman?
(A) Nephew
(B) Son
(C) Cousin
(D) Uncle
Answer: (C) Cousin
Logic: Brother of her mother is her maternal uncle (Mama). The son of the maternal uncle is a cousin.
Q4. Pointing to a girl, a boy said, “She is the daughter of my father’s only sister.” How is the girl related to the boy?
(A) Sister
(B) Cousin
(C) Niece
(D) Aunt
Answer: (B) Cousin
Logic: Father’s only sister is his Aunt (Bua). Her daughter is his cousin.
Q5. Pointing to a lady, a man said, “The son of her only brother is the brother of my wife.” How is the lady related to the man?
(A) Mother’s sister
(B) Grandmother
(C) Mother-in-law
(D) Sister of father-in-law
Answer: (D) Sister of father-in-law
Logic: Brother of his wife is his brother-in-law. The father of his brother-in-law is his father-in-law. The lady is the sister of his father-in-law.
Q6. A girl introduced a boy as the son of the daughter of the father of her uncle. The boy is the girl’s:
(A) Brother
(B) Son
(C) Uncle
(D) Son-in-law
Answer: (A) Brother
Logic: Father of her uncle is her grandfather. Daughter of her grandfather is her mother. The son of her mother is her brother.
Q7. Pointing to a man, a woman said, “His mother is the only daughter of my mother.” How is the woman related to the man?
(A) Mother
(B) Grandmother
(C) Sister
(D) Aunt
Answer: (A) Mother
Logic: “Only daughter of my mother” is the woman herself. So, she is the mother of the man.
Q8. Pointing to a photograph, a woman says, “This man’s son’s sister is my mother-in-law.” How is the woman’s husband related to the man in the photograph?
(A) Grandson
(B) Son
(C) Son-in-law
(D) Nephew
Answer: (A) Grandson
Logic: Man’s son’s sister is the man’s daughter. The man’s daughter is the woman’s mother-in-law. This means the man’s daughter is the mother of the woman’s husband. So, the husband is the grandson of the man.
Q9. Showing a man on the screen, a girl said, “He is the brother of my uncle’s daughter.” How is the man related to the girl?
(A) Brother
(B) Cousin
(C) Nephew
(D) Uncle
Answer: (B) Cousin
Logic: Uncle’s daughter is her cousin sister. The brother of a cousin sister is also a cousin.
Q10. Pointing to a gentleman, Deepak said, “His only brother is the father of my daughter’s father.” How is the gentleman related to Deepak?
(A) Grandfather
(B) Father
(C) Brother-in-law
(D) Uncle
Answer: (D) Uncle
Logic: “My daughter’s father” is Deepak himself. So, the gentleman’s brother is Deepak’s father. This makes the gentleman Deepak’s uncle.
