Hi, I am Ashutosh and here is my success story that I would like to share through PracticeMock. I was pursuing my PhD in Neuroscience from Taiwan. In March,2020 I came to India for holidays but unfortunately the pandemic stuck and lockdown was implemented in India. Unable to go back I extended my break for a few months. The frustration of being dropped out my PhD program was growing worse. Being idle for months I decided to prepare for competitive exams. Finally started my preparation in August,2020. I appeared for SBI, IBPS exams. Finally cleared IBPS CLERK. The preparation period was quite uncertain because of exam postponement and covid situation. I appeared for the below mentioned exams:

• SBI PO: cleared prelims. Missed mains by 4 marks.
• IBPS PO: couldn’t clear prelims.
• IBPS Clerk: qualified

English Section Preparation Strategy

I was from ICSE background and I had professional experience so my spoken English was good. I didn’t have to prepare exclusively for English but mocks helped a lot in improving my accuracy and basic grammar skills.

Quantitative Aptitude Section Preparation Strategy

Followed a few YouTube channels to get the basic knowledge of all chapters. But ultimately mocks helped me to substantiate my question selection technique, absorbing pressure and analyze my strength and weaknesses.

Reasoning Section Preparation Strategy

Just like quant, I followed some teachers to learn how to approach in different types of question. Most important was puzzles. The approach matters. Overall Strategy, Study Schedule & Challenges Faced

Initially I used to score less in mocks. Maybe I was a bit overconfident and I used to lag in accuracy. After some disappointing marks I analyzed my mistakes. Patience, understanding of your strength, these are most important. Eventually I made progress in mocks and focused on keeping a good percentile (95%+). I used go through GA video daily and gave one mock everyday for Prelims preparation. For mains, I gave 4 mocks and focused on my speed, accuracy, time management. It was unfortunate that I missed SBI PO mains by 4 marks due to guess work which led to negative marking. That was an eye opener. In IBPS Clerk, I completely restricted myself from being inpatient and nervous, thus avoiding guess work.

Corona, exam postponement, uncertainty in vacancy these were frustrating and depressing while preparing. I just believed that things will happen someday but I have to be prepared. If I keep thinking about it, I might lag behind others when the actual day comes.
