The set of whole numbers is usually denoted by \u2018W\u2019 i.e. {0, 1, 2, 3&#8230;&#8230;.}<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Integers:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An Integer is any number in the set {&#8230;.,-1, 0, 1, 2, &#8230;&#8230;&#8230;}.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Integers comprise natural numbers (1, 2 , 3&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;..), their negatives (-1, -2, -3&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;..) and the number zero.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.practicemock.com\/sbi-clerk\/?ref=9752\">SBI Clerk Prelims Free Mock Test <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Consecutive integers:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Integers that occur in a sequence and where the difference between two successive integers is \u20181\u2019, are consecutive integers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Consecutive integers can be expressed in the form: \u2018n\u2019, (n + 1), (n + 2), (n + 3), &#8230;&#8230;&#8230;.. where \u2018n\u2019 is an integer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Even numbers:<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All natural numbers that are <strong>divisible<\/strong> by \u20182\u2019 are called even numbers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Consecutive even numbers can be expressed in the form \u20182n\u2019, (2n + 2), (2n + 4), (2n + 6)&#8230;&#8230;., where \u2018n\u2019 is a natural number.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Odd numbers:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All natural numbers that are <strong>not divisible<\/strong> by \u20182\u2019 are called odd numbers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Consecutive odd numbers can be expressed in the form (2n + 1), (2n + 3), (2n + 5), (2n + 7)&#8230;&#8230;., where \u2018n\u2019 is a whole number.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Prime numbers:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A natural number greater than \u20181\u2019, that has exactly two factors, i.e., 1 and the number itself, is called a prime number. e.g. 2, 3, 5, 7, etc. Any prime number greater than 3 can be expressed as (6n + 1) or (6n \u2013 1) (where \u2018n\u2019 is a positive integer).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note: All the numbers in the form (6n + 1) and (6n \u2013 1) are not necessarily prime numbers.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Composite numbers:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Any number that has more than two factors (i.e. other than itself and \u20181\u2019) is called a composite number. e.g. 4, 6, 8 etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Note: Except \u20181\u2019, every other integer can be classified as either a prime or a composite number.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>HCF (Highest Common Factor):<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>HCF is the largest integer that perfectly divides two or more given integers. It is also known as the GCD (Greatest Common Divisor).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Example: Find the HCF of 9 and 18.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The factors or divisors of \u20189\u2019 are: 1, 3 and 9<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The factors or divisors of \u201818\u2019 are: 1, 2, 3, 6, 9 and 18&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, the HCF of 9 and 18 is \u20189\u2019 (Since, highest factor common to both \u20189\u2019 and \u201818\u2019 is \u20189\u2019).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>LCM (Lowest Common Multiple):<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>LCM is the smallest integer that is perfectly divisible by two or more given integers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Example:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Find the LCM of 9 and 18<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The multiples of 9 are: 9, 18, 27, &#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;..<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The multiples of 18 are: 18, 36, 54,&nbsp; &#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;.&nbsp; the LCM of 18 and 9 is \u201818\u2019. (Since, the least multiple that is common to both \u20189\u2019 and \u201818\u2019 is \u201836\u2019)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Also, Product of two numbers = LCM of the same two numbers \u00d7 HCF of the same two numbers<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Co-Prime or Relatively prime numbers:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If two numbers have no factor common other than \u20181\u2019, then the numbers are co-prime to each other. For example, \u20185\u2019 and \u20186\u2019 are co-prime to each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Note: LCM of two prime or co-prime numbers is the product of the two numbers and the HCF of two prime or co-prime numbers is \u20181\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Factorial:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A factorial is a number obtained by multiplying all the positive integers less than or equal to a given positive integer.
