All recognized degrees are valid.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Final Year Students:<\/strong> If you are in the final year of your college and waiting for results, <strong>you are eligible to apply<\/strong> for the Prelims. However, you must produce proof of passing the exam when applying for the Mains.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">UPSC Percentage Required<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Many students worry about their college marks, but for the IAS exam, there is <strong>no minimum percentage required<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whether you were a topper or you just passed your graduation with 40%, you are eligible to sit for the exam. For other services (like IRS, IAAS), candidates can be:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A citizen of India,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Or a subject of Nepal,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Or a subject of Bhutan,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Or a refugee from Tibet that came to India before the\u00a0<strong>1st of January 1962<\/strong>\u00a0with the intention of settling in India permanently.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Or an individual with Indian origin who has migrated from Burma, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, East African countries of Uganda, Zambia, Zaire, Kenya, the united republic of Tanzania, Malawi, Ethiopia, &amp; Vietnam, with the purpose of settling permanently in India.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Restrictions on Applying for UPSC 2026<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Even if you meet the age and education criteria, there are certain restrictions for candidates who are already serving in the government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>For IAS\/IFS Officers:<\/strong> If you have already been appointed to the <strong>Indian Administrative Service (IAS)<\/strong> or <strong>Indian Foreign Service (IFS)<\/strong> based on a previous exam and you are still a member of that service, <strong>you cannot apply<\/strong> for the exam again.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>For IPS Officers:<\/strong> If you are already an <strong>IPS officer<\/strong>, you <strong>can apply<\/strong> to improve your rank (e.g., to become IAS). However, you <strong>cannot opt for IPS<\/strong> again in your service preference list.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">UPSC Medical and Physical Standards<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>After you clear the Mains and appear for the Interview, you have to undergo a mandatory medical examination at designated hospitals in Delhi (like AIIMS or Safdarjung). You must be physically and mentally fit to handle the responsibilities of an officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. General Physical Standards<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>For IAS, there is no strict requirement for height, weight, or chest measurement (unlike Police services).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Body Health:<\/strong> You should be free from any disease or deformity that interferes with your duty.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Hernia\/Hydrocele:<\/strong> Conditions like hernia, hydrocele, or varicose veins may lead to <strong>temporary disqualification<\/strong>. You will need to get them treated (surgery) to be declared fit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Blood Pressure:<\/strong> Your BP and heart function should be normal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Vision Standards (Eye Sight)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Many students worry about glasses. Don&#8217;t worry, <strong>glasses and LASIK are allowed<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Distant Vision:<\/strong> 6\/6 or 6\/9 in the better eye.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Near Vision:<\/strong> J1 or J2.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Corrections:<\/strong> You can wear glasses or contact lenses. LASIK\/ICL surgery is also permitted.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Color Blindness:<\/strong> A good level of color perception is required for services like IPS and Railways, but rules are relaxed for some other posts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3.
