1. Linear Arrangement<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In a linear arrangement, people are sitting in a straight line. They may all face the same direction, like north or south, or sometimes half the people face north while the rest face south. The question will give you conditions like, \u201cA sits third to the right of B\u201d or \u201cC is second to the left of D.\u201d To solve such questions, you need to be very clear about what \u201cright\u201d and \u201cleft\u201d mean depending on which direction the person is facing. If everyone faces north, right and left remain the same for all. But if some face north and some face south, then right and left get reversed for those facing south.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a circular arrangement, people are sitting around a circular table. They may face inward, toward the center of the circle, or outward, away from the center. The very first step is to read the question very carefully and understand what type of arrangement has been given. Sometimes it may be a linear arrangement where people are sitting in a row, sometimes it is a circular or square arrangement, and other times it may be a double-row arrangement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Once you know the type, the next important thing is to look for direct clues. For example, if the questions says \u201cA sits third to the right of B,\u201d then you can immediately fix A and B in your diagram because their positions are connected in a clear way. However, there will also be situations when you do not get any direct clue in the beginning.
