There are two posts: EO/AO and APFC, and the eligibility rules are different for both. You must have a Bachelor’s degree in any stream from a recognised university to apply online. The age limit is 30 years for EO/AO and 35 years for APFC posts as on the last date of application (18 August 2025). UPSC has mentioned the post-wise eligibility. The eligibility criteria for EPFO EO/AO Recruitment have been shared in the official UPSC EPFO Notification. The table below shows the basic conditions that every candidate must meet to be eligible. In the next sections, we’ll explain each of these points in detail.

As per the UPSC EPFO Eligibility Criteria, the upper age limit is different for both posts. For APFC, the age limit is 35 years. For EO/AO, it is 30 years.

You must have at least a bachelor’s degree in any related stream to apply for the UPSC EPFO exam. Candidates with a degree in Law, M.A. in Business Administration, a 5-year Law degree, or a PG diploma in Company Secretary, Management, Cost and Management Accounting, or Chartered Accountancy will be given preference.

It is an added advantage to have relevant experience. It will increase your chances of getting shortlisted. So, candidates with at least 2 years of experience in Accounts, Administration, or Legal matters will be preferred.
In short, experience is not compulsory, but candidates with at least 2 years of experience in Administration, Accounts, and Legal Matters will get an advantage over other candidates.
The official notification doesn’t mention any limit on the number of attempts. If you meet the eligibility rules and fall within the age limit, you can apply for the exam. So, there is no limit on the number of attempts. If you meet the age and eligibility rules, you can apply.
