SSC Phase 14 Notification 2026 Big Update! DRDO Posts Added & GSI Vacancies Cancelled
Are you studying hard for the SSC Phase 14 (Phase-XIV) Exam 2026? If yes, please stop what you are doing for just two minutes. The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has dropped a massive update today, April 20, 2026. If you are planning to apply for this exam, you absolutely need to read this right now. SSC has made some huge changes to the final job list. They have added some exciting new posts, but sadly, they have also removed a few. Do not worry if official notices seem confusing. In this blog, we will break down everything in very simple words.
Let us start with the good news! If you have always dreamed of working in the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), today is your lucky day. Under special circumstances, the SSC has added 4 brand new types of posts for DRDO in the current Phase 14 exam.
All of these are amazing Group C jobs. The best part? They only require you to have passed your 10th class (Matriculation) or 12th class (Higher Secondary)!
Here is the simple list of the new DRDO jobs added:
This means there are 75 shiny new vacancies just waiting for you to grab them!
Now, we have to talk about the not-so-good news. If you were really hoping to join the Geological Survey of India (GSI) under the Ministry of Mines, you might need to change your exam strategy.
The GSI department has decided to take back a lot of their job openings. Because the department withdrew these vacancies, SSC had no choice but to officially cancel 33 different post categories that were in the original notice.
What exactly got cancelled? Here are a few major examples of the withdrawn posts:
SSC has made it very clear that they had no role in this cancellation; it was entirely the GSI department’s decision. So, if you were targeting specific post codes like CR11926, ER12026, or SR11826, please do not apply for them anymore. Instead, focus your energy on the hundreds of other great options available!
Do not miss your golden chance! Mark these exact dates on your calendar:
SSC has introduced a brand new website (ssc.gov.in). If you have an old account on their old website, it will not work anymore. You must create a new “One-Time Registration” (OTR) first before you can fill out the form.
Also, pay very close attention to your photograph! You do not need to scan and upload an old printed photo anymore. The new website will take a live photo of you using your computer’s webcam or your phone’s camera while you are filling out the form.
When taking the live photo, find a place with good light, look straight into the camera, and do not wear glasses, a mask, or a hat.
Secret Pro Tip: Link your Aadhaar card when making your OTR account. If you use Aadhaar verification, your form will not be rejected for tiny photo or signature mistakes!
Change happens, but your focus should stay strong. Do not let the cancelled GSI posts bring your energy down. Look at the bright side: DRDO just opened its doors for you with 75 new spots!
Read the full notice carefully, fill out your form way before the May 4th deadline, and keep studying hard. You have got this!

SSC added 75 DRDO vacancies, including Firefighter and Security Assistant, for 10th and 12th pass students.
The Geological Survey of India withdrew 33 post categories, so SSC officially cancelled them.
You must capture a live photo using a webcam or phone camera. Do not upload old printed photos.
The computer-based test is tentatively scheduled to be held in June 2026.
