Negative marking is a system of deducting marks for incorrect answers in an objective type exam. In SSC JE exam, negative marking is applicable for Paper-I & Paper- II. In case of Paper-I, for every wrong answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted from the total score and in case of Paper-II, for every wrong answer, 1 mark will be deducted from the total score. However, there is no negative marking for unattempted questions.
Note: Earlier the negative marking was 0.33 for Paper-I , but as per this notification, it has been revised to 0.25.
Negative marking is important for SSC JE exam because it helps to maintain the quality and standard of the exam. It also discourages guesswork and random selection of answers by the candidates.
