The SSC GD exam is a competitive test conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) for the recruitment of General Duty (GD) constables in various paramilitary forces of India. The exam consists of four sections: General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Knowledge and General Awareness, Elementary Mathematics, and English/Hindi Language. The exam is held in two stages: a computer-based test (CBT) and a physical efficiency test (PET). Candidates who qualify the CBT are eligible for the PET, which tests their physical fitness and endurance. The final merit list is prepared based on the performance in both the stages.

SSC GD 2023- Eligibility
Please ensure that you are eligible as per the below-mentioned criteria prior to applying.
Nationality
Candidates must be citizens of India. Additionally, candidates who fall under any of the following categories are also eligible to apply:
- The subject of Nepal or Bhutan: Candidates who are subjects of Nepal or Bhutan are eligible to apply for the SSC GD Constable exam.
- Tibetan Refugee: Candidates who are Tibetan refugees and came to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India are eligible to apply for the exam.
- Person of Indian Origin (PIO): Candidates who are of Indian origin and have migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India are eligible to apply for the SSC GD Constable exam.
It is important for candidates to provide valid documents and proof of their nationality during the application process to establish their eligibility.
Age Limit
18-23 years as on 01-01-2024. Candidates should not have been born earlier than 02-08-2000 and later than 01-08-2005 in normal course. Please note that there are permissible relaxations in upper age limit for different categories.
Educational Qualification
The candidates must have passed Matriculation or 10th Class Examination from a recognized Board/ University.

Note:
- All questions will be of Objective Multiple Choice Type. The computer based examination will be conducted in English and Hindi only.
- There will be negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer. Candidates are, therefore, advised to keep this in mind while answering the questions.
SSC GD 2023- How to Apply?
Applications must be submitted in online mode at the official website of the Commission i.e. https://ssc.nic.in.
- Visit the official website of the Staff Selection Commission.
- If you are a new candidate, complete the one-time registration process.
- Log in using the username and password created during the registration process.
- Click on the ‘Apply’ tab.
- Choose ‘SSC GD Constable’ from the list and click on the ‘Apply Online’ link.
- Fill in all details like age, father’s name, date of birth, category, educational qualification, etc.
- Upload the scanned photograph and signature.
- Preview the form, pay the exam fee (Rs. 100 for general and OBC candidates, reserved category candidates are exempted), and finally submit the form.
Please note that the SSC GD Constable 2024 online application will consist of two parts – the SSC GD registration and the online application form 2024. The last date to fill the SSC GD application form 2024 is December 31, 2023. The SSC GD Constable exam will be held on February, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 26, 27, 28, 29 and March 1, 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, 2024.
Application Fee
- Fee payable: Rs 100/- (Rupees One Hundred Only).
- Women candidates and candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Ex-servicemen (ESM) eligible for reservation are exempted from payment of fee.
SSC GD 2023- Salary/ Pay Scale
The initial salary of SSC GD (General Duty) Constable is Rs 23,527 per month. The basic pay is between 21,700 to 69,100. Successful candidates will also enjoy dearness allowance, house rent allowance, transport allowance, medical facilities, pension scheme, annual paid leaves etc. Annual package of SSC GD is approximately between RS 3,00,000 to Rs 6,00,000.
