SSC CHSL- Sure-shot Quantitative Aptitude Topics

There are only some days left in the SSC CHSL exam. We hope that your revision would be almost done. In this article, we will be focussing on the Quantitative Aptitude  There are some chosen important quantitative aptitude topics from which questions are asked almost every year in the SSC CHSL exam. And this year also, there is a high probability that these topics will be there. Have a look:

Sure-shot Quantitative Aptitude Topics

Do revise these topics for sure. Try to solve at least 50 questions on each of these sure-shot topics and take your preparation to the next level.

Percentage

  • In this topic, questions are asked testing the basic concepts of percentage.
  • These questions are easy to answer provided you have properly understood the concept of percentages and have practised a lot of questions.
  • You need to be thorough with this topic as sometimes profit, loss & discount questions and data interpretation questions are linked with the concept of percentages.

Average

  • This is again an easy & scoring topic. Questions on Averages are often asked in SSC CHSL exams.
  • Often questions based on averages are asked in data interpretation (for eg. pie chart).
  • Average questions are sometimes based on the number system as well.
  • There are certain shortcuts & tricks available for answering averages questions quickly. We suggest that you use those only once you have thoroughly understood the shortcuts.

Number System

  • Having a thorough understanding of the number system is very important to answer questions in this section.
  • Ensure that you are comfortable with prime numbers, composite numbers, HCF/ LCM, divisibility rules etc.
  • Questions based on the number system are easy to answer and are scoring as well.

Simplification

  • These questions are based on basic calculation (addition, subtraction, multiplication & division). This makes it one of the easiest topics in this section.
  • Ensure that you get all the questions of this topic right. Practice at least 100 questions on this topic to gain mastery & efficiency.
  • Start operations from left to right; solve Bracket first and within bracket also apply the rule of BODMAS.

Time & Work

  • Understand the concept of this topic. If a man finishes a job in 10 days, then his 1 day’s work is 1/10.
  • Understanding this simple thing will help you to a great extent in solving Time & Work questions.
  • There are a number of shortcuts for this topic. Try to understand those properly before starting to use those.

Ratio

  • Questions on this topic will be asked as word problems and might be in data interpretation as well.
  • Have a clear-cut understanding of this topic.
  • Practise at least 50 questions on this topic.

Simple Interest & Compound Interest

  • Questions on Simple/ Compound Interest have often been asked in SSC CHSL exam.
  • You need to understand the concept and be familiar with the formulas as well.
  • Solve 50 questions on this topic to gain speed.

Profit, Loss & Discount

  • Questions on this topic is often coupled with percentage. Ensure that there is no issue in you understanding the concept.
  • Be very much familiar with the formulas; you may get confused with the formulas.
  • Check the shortcuts as well and solve at least 50 questions on this topic.

Data Interpretation

  • Get familiarized with all kinds of tables, charts & graphs.
  • Practice at least 2-3 DI sets per day.
  • Review your attempts and see where are you making mistakes.

Algebra

  • Only a deep understanding of the concepts of algebra and practising at least 100 questions will help you in answering all the questions correctly in this topic.

Triangle and Mensuration

  • Here, again a deep understanding of concepts & formulas is required to answer the questions correctly.
  • Practice at least 100 questions and you will get a good understanding of the kinds of questions asked.

Pipe and Cistern & Boat and Stream

  • Understand the concept of pipe and cistern and boat & stream to answer the questions correctly.
  • Practice 50 questions on this topic.
