Instead of 1%, think 1/100.

For 20% increase gives multiplying by 1.20

For 30% decrease gives multiplying by 0.7

Trick 3: Shortcut for continuous changes

Increase 10% then decrease 10%

Net = × 1.1 × 0.9 = × 0.99 gives net loss of 1%

Trick 4: Fast way to find cost from marked price

If cost is Rs. 80 and profit is 25%, then MP = 80 × 1.25 = Rs. 100
