Questions on blood relations often turn up in SSC CGL exam. Information on 2 or more persons is given and based upon their relationship, questions are asked. Here are some quick tips to help you with this section:

  • Don’t assume anything when answering the question. Unless something specific is given, have an open-minded approach on things like gender, no. of sons/daughters etc.
  • You can start the question keeping yourself as the subject and build the relationships accordingly. This might help you answer the questions easily.
  • Do a lot of practice using the above method. It will help you in answering the question quickly.
  • Another approach to answering this question would be the diagram method. Use different lines for parallel relationships and different lines for generational differences (for eg. lines and dotted lines)
  • Also, use different symbols for males & females (for eg. + and -).
  • Do a lot of practice using diagrams which will improve your understanding and will increase your speed of solving questions on this topic.
  • If the question is lengthy, you may like to break the question into small parts and start solving keeping the small parts in mind.

Apart from the above tips, we have come up with some shortcuts using which while practising will improve your speed. Remember, practice is the key for solving these questions.
