How to Choose Between Them?

Choosing one exam among the most competitive exams can be tough, but below reasons can help you choose an exam easily.

Job Nature and Interests

SSC CGL includes desk jobs, field work, and long-term promotions. If you are interested and prefer administrative jobs, then it is best suited for you. While IB ACIO includes a variety of job responsibilities that can be challenging and adventurous than SSC CGL. SBI Clerk job profile and nature are completely different because here you are facing work related to bank account transactions, customer handling, etc.

TIP: Based on the job profile and interests, ask yourself. What do you prefer – administrative roles, customer interactions, or field work? Then choose the exam.

Pay/Allowances/Growth

When it comes to the salary and growth then each exam offers a good salary and growth with good perks and allowances. SSC CGL salary ranges from ₹40,000–₹65,000, depending on the post. You will be hired for Group B and C posts, and you expect promotions for Group A posts based on your working experience and internal government exams. IB ACIO starts at ₹44,900 with lots of allowances, offering jobs in MHA. One can expect promotion to DCIO (Deputy Central Intelligence Officer) post. In SBI Clerk, the salary will be less in comparison to SSC CGL and IB ACIO, but career growth can be good based on your work experience and internal exams. You can be a Probationary Officer and Branch Manager.

TIP: If salary and long-term growth matter for you, then you should go for SSC CGL and IB ACIO exams.

Competition

No doubt competition is high in each exam. For SSC CGL 2025, around 28 Lakh candidates have applied for 14,582 vacancies, which means at most 200 candidates are appearing for a seat. If we talk about IB ACIO, more than 4 lakh candidates have applied for 3717 posts, and the same is for SBI Clerk; lakhs of candidates are appearing for 6589 posts. If you want to choose an exam based on the competition, then you are advised to choose SBI Clerk if you are good at problem-solving, because there will be a sectional timing. This can make you stand out from other candidates.

Selection Process and Format

If we decide based on the selection process, then you can check that SSC CGL consists of two Tiers: Tier 1 and Tier 2, IB ACIO consists of three Tiers: Tier-I (Objective Type), Tier-II (Descriptive Type), and Tier-III (Interview), and SBI Clerk consists of prelims, mains, and LPT. If you are not good at descriptive or writing skills, then IB ACIO may not be good for you.

Time and Preparation Required

All exams are near. At this point in time, you don’t have much time for your preparation. You should check your preparation level for each exam. And check for which exam your preparation is best. If you are already preparing for any particular exam, then you can go for it. But you are strongly advised to give at least 2 mock tests for each exam and then make a decision.

Conclusion

Now you know about exams, their difficulty, job profiles, exam format, and interests. If you are preparing for one, two, or all exams, then check your preparation and then make a decision. Also, look for your exam dates; it might be possible that for you, IB ACIO is scheduled for September 16 and SSC CGL on another date. So you can appear for both exams. Same, you can check for SBI Clerk also. Choosing and prioritizing the exam is completely up to you. Exact exam dates will be provided in your city intimation slip and admit card; just keep checking the official websites of the respective exam. So if you are preparing for more than one exam, prioritize them based on your preparation level and exam date.
