  1. Is there any significant change in SBI PO Notification when compared to that of last year?

    No! There isn't any major change in this year's notification. Only for the 50 marks of Phase III there is some uncertainty whether Group Exercise will be there or not.

  2. I'm in the final year of B. Tech. Can I apply for these 2000 vacancies?

    Yes! You can apply for SBI PO provided that at the time of interview you will be able to produce the proof of having passed the graduation examination on or before December 31, 2020. If you are pursuing Integrated Dual Degree (IDD), its certificate should also bear the date of passing as on or before December 31, 2020.

  3. Do I need to have any minimum percentage in graduation to be able to apply for SBI PO exam?

    No! In the official notification, only graduation is mentioned as the eligibility criteria. So no minimum percentage in graduation is required.

  4. I have already appeared in SBI PO Prelims twice. How many times can I apply more?

    Prelims attempts are not counted. So if you are a General/ EWS category candidate, you have 4 more chances. The maximum permissible number of chances for all the categories are below:
    General/ EWS: 4
    General/ EWS (PWD): 7
    OBC: 7
    OBC (PWD): 7
    SC/ SC (PWD)/ ST/ ST (PWD): No Restriction

  5. Will the Prelims marks be considered for final selection?

    No! The marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination (Phase-I) will not be added for preparing the final merit list for selection.

  6. What is the selection criteria for this exam?

    Candidates will have to qualify both in Phase-II and Phase-III separately. The marks obtained in Main Examination (Phase-II), both in the Objective Test and the Descriptive Test, will be added to the marks obtained in Phase-III for preparing the final merit list. The marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination (Phase-I) will not be added for preparing the final merit list for selection.
    Marks secured by the candidates in the Phase-II (out of 250 marks) are converted to out of 75 marks and Phase-III scores of candidates (out of 50 marks) are converted to out of 25 marks. The final merit list is arrived at after aggregating (out of 100) converted marks of Phase-II and Phase-III. Selection will be made from the top merit ranked candidates in each category.

  7. Do I have to sign any bond at the time of joining?

    Yes! At the time of joining, you need to execute a bond for a value of Rs 2 lakh to serve the bank for a minimum period of 3 years. If you resign from the bank within 3 years of joining, the bond will be invoked.

  8. Whom to contact if I face any issue while applying?

    In case of any problem in filling up the form, payment of fee/ intimation charges or receipt of Admission/ call letter, queries may be made at telephone no. 022-22820427 (between 11:00 AM to 06:00 PM on working days) or lodge their query on Candidates should mention ‘RECRUITMENT OF PROBATIONARY OFFICERS IN STATE BANK OF INDIA – 2020’ in the subject of the email.

  9. What about cut-offs? Will there be sectional & overall cut-offs in Prelims & Mains exams?

    Sectional cut-offs will not be there in either Preliminary or Mains exam. Merit list will be drawn on the basis of aggregate marks scored in the case of Prelims exam. In Mains exam, category-wise merit list will be drawn on the basis of aggregate marks.

  10. There is no sectional cut-off in this exam. Will there be any sectional timing?

    Yes! Sectional Timing will be there in this exam. In Prelims, the 3 sections (English Language, Quantitative Aptitude & Reasoning Ability) will have 20 minutes each. In the Mains exam, there are different time allotted for each of the sections. Below are the details:
    Reasoning & Computer Aptitude: 60 minutes
    Data Analysis & Interpretation: 45 minutes
    General/ Economy/ Banking Awareness: 35 minutes
    English Language: 40 minutes

  11. Is the SBI PO 2020 exam bilingual?

    Yes! The exam is bilingual. You have the option to answer the questions in English or Hindi (except the English Language section).

  12. Is the syllabus for SBI PO Prelims & Mains same?

    The syllabus for English Language is same for Prelims & Mains. Coming to Quantitative Aptitude, this section is there in Prelims but absent in Mains. Reasoning Ability's syllabus will remain the same as it is in Prelims but questions on Computer Aptitude (Input-Output etc.) are also there in Mains. Additionally, there are 2 more sections in Mains which are not there in Prelims. These are Data Analysis & Interpretation and General/ Economy/ Banking Awareness.

  13. What will be the Descriptive Test like? Will it be held online or offline?

    The Descriptive Test will be a Test of English Language (Letter Writing & Essay) with two questions for total 50 marks. In the Descriptive Test, Candidates will have to type the descriptive test answers on a computer. So it will be online. Candidates are advised to practice typing on a computer beforehand.

  14. What are the details of Joining, Training & Career Path?

    The selected candidates will be exposed to basic banking knowledge through an online course and will have to complete this course before joining. As already mentioned, the selected candidates, at the time of joining, will have to execute a Bond for a value of 2.00 lac ( Two lac only) to serve the Bank for a minimum period of three years. On joining, the selected candidates will be designated as “Probationary Officers” and may be on probation for two years. Those candidates who qualify in the assessment as per standards determined by the Bank from time to time, will be confirmed in the Service of the Bank in Junior Management Grade Scale-I (JMGS-I). If any candidate fails to achieve minimum standards stipulated, his/ her services may
    be terminated as per policy of the Bank in force at the material time.

  15. Will there be a Phase III in SBI PO 2020 exam?

    The Phase III may comprise of
    (i) Interview only (50 marks)
    (ii) Interview (30 marks) & Group Exercises (20 marks).
    Please note that candidates will have to score minimum qualifying marks in Phase-III to be considered for final selection.
