Reading Comprehension for IBPS Clerk Mains Exam
Reading Comprehension (RC) is one of the most important and high-scoring parts of the English Language section in the IBPS Clerk Mains Exam. Many aspirants fear RC due to lengthy passages or tricky inference-based questions. However, with the right strategy, consistent reading habits, and smart practice, RC can turn into your strongest area. Since this section tests your ability to understand, analyze, and interpret information mastering it not only boosts your English score but also improves your performance in descriptive and GA-based comprehension tasks in future exams.
The IBPS Clerk Mains English Language section carries 40 questions for 40 marks with a time limit of 35 minutes. Among these, Reading Comprehension contributes around 8–10 questions, often based on banking, economy, technology, social issues, or moral values.
The passage is usually 350–450 words long, followed by questions that test:
