Tips for Quantitative Aptitude (RBI Assistant Prelims 2021)

  1. From previous years’ papers, it can be easily concluded that number series questions constitute a major chunk and should be practised as much as possible. The quicker you identify the pattern and answer the questions the better it is. Patterns can be based on many aspects some of which are Prime Numbers, Squares/ Cubes, Patterns in differences, Pattern in alternate numbers, Geometric series, Odd one out, Cube roots/ square roots.
  2. Read the given statements carefully and don’t assume any piece of info on your own. Some aspirants think that solving the complete question is not required in data sufficiency questions. But it really depends on the question you are dealing with. We suggest that you practice as many questions of data sufficiency as possible to quickly identify which question requires what treatment. Also, don’t forget to check if the answer can be arrived by considering either of the statements.
  3. There are normally more than one Data Interpretation sets and not all questions are difficult to answer. Practice at least 1 DI set once in 1-2 days. Rigorous practise will sharpen your DI Skills and it also will help you identify easy questions.
  4. Don’t study everything at once; rather take out time for 1 topic and practice 70-90 questions on it. Watch online videos to understand the concept and shortcuts/tricks.
  5. Remember, maintaining a balance of speed and accuracy is important as there is negative marking involved. Too much speed might affect your accuracy and at the same time, you can’t be too slow as you’ll be losing out on precious marks.
  6. Time your attempts by taking Mock Tests which will definitely help you in dealing with questions in a controlled environment.
  7. Last but not least, practice, review, repeat. Reviewing your attempts is extremely important to improve your overall performance.
