That’s where ratio and proportions comes in handy. Whether you are splitting bills or mixing fuels for better vehicle performance, you practice ratio and proportion in everyday life. Similarly, in IBPS PO exams, ratios and proportions play a crucial role. The only difference is that in the exam hall, there is a time limit under which you have to solve certain questions, and in real life, there are no such conditions. Sometimes questions are asked directly, or sometimes they are combined with data interpretation and many other quantitative topics. So if you master the IBPS PO ratio and proportion questions, then you will be able to score well in the Quants section.

| Ratio | A ratio is a way to compare two quantities. E.g.: 3:5 means 3 parts to 5 parts |
| Proportion | It shows that the two ratios are equal. Eg: 3:5 = 6:10 |
| Mean Proportion | If a: b = b:c, then b is the mean proportion between a and c |
| Continued Proportion | If a/b = b/c, then a, b, and c are in continued proportion |
| Compounded Ratio | When multiple ratios are multiplied together. Eg: (2:3) × (4:5) = 8:15 |
| Inverse Ratio | Reciprocal of the given ratio. Eg: If A:B = 3:5, then inverse is 5:3 |
