  • Major Financial/Economic News,
  • Budget and Five-Year Plans,
  • Who’s Who,
  • Sports,
  • Economy
  • and Geography with special reference to Punjab
  • Awards and Honours,
  • Science – Inventions and Discoveries,
  • Abbreviations, History, and culture with special reference to Punjab, International, and National Organisations.
  • The questions regarding the banking and Cooperative Societies Act will be general in nature. (For the Post of Manager)

The PSCB should be applauded for the fact that they have made the syllabus for banking and general awareness very clear and precise. Due to this, it will be easy for aspirants to prepare as they are now aware of the specifics of the syllabus.  

As we can evaluate after going through the syllabus certain topics are focused entirely on Punjab. Such as geography, banking, and cooperative societies act, history and culture of Punjab, economy, etc. Other than that, all the other topics are common for other banking exams as well.  

The preparation strategy for PSCB’s clerk-cum data entry operator exam is going to be a little different from generalized approaches. Start Reading the Economic Times

The Economic Times paper is the best source of national and International economics and financial news in India. It can be tough to comprehend the articles of the Economic Times at first as they are technical and also have a decent vocabulary. Give yourself 30 days with ET and you will realize you have started to grow in terms of your financial and economical aptitude. However, keep digging into the terminologies and other technical terms so that you follow a healthy learning curve.  

You can read “The Hindu” as well

The Hindu is a fine source for daily current affairs and also for vocabulary building. All aspirants whether be it for UPSC, SBI, IBPS, LIC; everybody reads the Hindu.  

General Knowledge 2022 by Manohar Pandey (Arihant Publications)

This GK book is one of the best reference books for the PSCB clerk aspirants. The book is a great help for learning static GK topics along with current affairs. It will assist you with topics like Who’s Who, Science, honors and awards, etc.  

Banking Awareness Book by Arihant Publications

You can expect 70-80% of the questions of banking directly from this book. Many tutors would recommend you this book as well.

Both of these departments are responsible for sharing annual, quarterly, or even monthly reports based on the economy, Punjab’s economic status, growth rate, financial and economic issues, and challenges being faced by the respective departments, new schemes, and policies launched, etc. Reading and analyzing such information will help you do wonders in this section. All such can be gathered from their respective websites. And for five years plans you can follow NITI AAYOG’s updates.
