1. Data Interpretation (DI)

Data Interpretation is one of the highest-weighted topics in the Quantitative Aptitude section. It includes pie charts, bar graphs, line graphs, tabular forms, and caselets. The DI questions your data interpretation.

Scoring Topics: Scoring High If proper practice is done with these DI types, these can be highly scored as the basic arithmetic operations of addition, subtraction, percentage, and ratio form the base for answering these questions.

Simplification and Approximation

Weightage: 5-7 questions

Simplification and Approximation questions are usually simple and can be solved fast, provided you have mastered your basic arithmetic. These questions test your ability to simplify complicated calculations.

Scoring Topics: Since these questions contain simple arithmetic operations (BODMAS rule, squares, cubes, percentages), these questions can be solved easily if you have practised daily.

Preparation Tips For Simplification and Approximation

Work on practice questions involving multiplication and division, squares, cubes, and percentage calculations 

Candidates should use shortcuts and mental math to save time.

Solve the previous year’s paper to realize what type of simplification questions are asked along with the out-tips test & boost your preparation.

3. Number Series

Weightage: 5-7 questions

Number Series: The number series is an important scoring topic if you con identify the underlying pattern quickly. The Number series topics include multiple topics like: – addition, subtraction, squares, cubes, and prime numbers.

  • Candidates can start to practice all types of number series.
  • Go through all types of missing numbers, wrong numbers and increasing/decreasing patterns
  • Identify a systematic approach to attempt number series questions from basic checks like addition and multiplication.

4. Quadratic Equations

Weightage: 5-6 questions

Quadratic Equation: Quadratic equation questions are very conceptual and involve the solving of equations by factoring or using the formula. They test your skill in finding the roots of equations and comparing values.

Scoring Topics: Quadratic equations are a “speed booster”; they can be solved quickly if know how to do them properly.

5. Arithmetic Word Problems

Weightage: 10-12 questions

Arithmetic Word Problems: Arithmetic word problems form a crucial part of the syllabus of the Quantitative Aptitude section. Topics involve time & work, profit & loss, simple & compound interest, ratio & proportion, averages, partnerships, and mixtures.

There are many questions to score your marks in the Quantitative Section. They tend to be a good set of questions about which you will get a good number of marks if the basic concepts are correct.

6. Percentage and Ratio-Proportion

Weightage: 4-6 questions

Percentage and Ratio Proportion: Percentage and ratio-proportion questions are very frequently asked directly or in DI sets. These constitute a lot of arithmetic problems.

  • I will memorize percentage values and ratio relationships, such as 1/2 = 50% and 1/3 = 33.33%.
  • I will attempt practice problems on percentage increase/decrease, profit margin, and ratio comparison.
  • I will utilize shortcut techniques in order to calculate quickly.

7. Time, Speed & Distance

Weightage: 3-5 questions

Time Speed & Distance: These are standard topics under arithmetic word problems. It will test your capacity to apply formulas related to speed, distance, time, and work efficiency.
