Types of Data Interpretation Questions asked in IBPS Clerk Exam

There are six major types of questions of DI asked in IBPS Clerk 2025 examination, and they are- 

  1. Bar Graph– In this type, you will be asked to answer questions based on a bar graph given. The questions involve calculations based on percentages, ratios, and averages as well.
  2. Tabular format- This type of DI is also known as table DI, in which questions are based on the data given in tabular format. Sometimes the questions are asked directly from the table given, and many times you have to decode the data and then solve the questions accordingly.
  3. Pie Chart – This type of DI is asked based on percentage and ratio data. You have to solve the given questions by using certain tips and tricks.
  4. Line chart- The data is presented in the form of a line chart, and questions are asked on the basis of the same.
  5. Caselet Form- In caselet DI, information is given in the form of paragraphs, and you have to answer questions based on those paragraphs.
  6. Missing Data–  In this type of DI, a few elements are missing from the table, and you have to find those elements by solving the questions.

Tips to solve the Data Interpretation Questions Quickly in Prelims

In IBPS Clerk Prelims, usually, Table DI, Bar graph, and pie chart questions are asked. Till here, we have discussed what DI is, the types of questions asked in DI. Now we will discuss ways in which you can solve the Data Interpretation Questions quickly. 

Write what is being asked as the first thing

Many times, candidates focus on the data and aimlessly scan it, which results in a waste of time. What you can do is first look at the questions that are asked based on the data given in the question. Now, when you are going through the data, you will be focused on scanning the data according to the questions asked, which in turn saves your time. 

Master Basic Arithmetic Questions

Master topics such as percentages, ratios, and averages for faster calculations. Short tricks such as 20%=⅕, all these are very helpful for faster calculations. Another important thing you can do is make a chart of all these short formulae and paste that chart where you practice questions. While practicing, use these tricks; they will become your habits as you solve questions.
