If you would have noticed, banks like Syndicate Bank, Bank of Maharashtra, Allahabad Bank have a majority of branches in semi-urban areas. Generally, these branches have less pressure and the cost of living in semi-urban areas is less. So if these parameters are important to you, you may like to make your preferences accordingly.

Another aspect is the number of branches of a bank in a region. If your preference to a particular region is more, you may like to apply for a bank which has more branches in that region. This will increase the probability of you getting posted to that region.
