IBPS Clerk Revised Preparation Strategy 2025: Check Tips to Clear Exam

Home » IBPS Clerk » IBPS Clerk Revised Preparation Strategy 2025

The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has very recently revised its exam calendar. This sudden revision in the exam schedule has taken many candidates by surprise. And so, it calls for an immediate shift in the IBPS Clerk exam preparation strategy. Earlier, the IBPS Clerk Prelims was scheduled for December 6th, 7th, 13th, and 14th, and the Mains was slated for February 1st, 2026. However, according to the revised IBPS Calendar 2025, the Prelims exam will now be conducted on 4th, 5th, and 11th October 2025, and the Mains exam will be held on 29th November 2025. This change has reduced the preparation time by two full months. It is therefore vital for aspirants to adopt a sharper, more time-bound approach. In this blog, we’ll discuss in detail how you can revise your preparation plan and make the most of the time you have left.

Why a Revised Strategy Is Needed

Aspirants who were preparing according to the earlier dates suddenly find themselves in a tighter schedule. The time cushion that was earlier available between Prelims and Mains is now shorter. And so is the overall preparation window. However, you can still cover all the topics and clear the exam easily if you embrace a proper revised plan packed with a strategy made for this new timeline.

Important Exam Dates (Revised Calendar)

Before following a specific strategy that suits you best, you must keep in mind the exam dates. You should not forget that both Prelims and mains are equally important. So, it’s better to keep going through Mains topics while preparing the syllabus/topics for the Prelims exam.

  • IBPS Clerk (CSA) Prelims 2025 – October 4th, 5th & 11th
  • IBPS Clerk Mains 2025 – November 29th

Revised Preparation Strategy (3-Phase Plan)

We have divided the preparation into three focused phases that align with the new exam schedule.

Phase 1: Prelims-Focused Preparation (Till 30th September 2025)

(Duration: June 17 – September 30 | Time: 105 days)

This phase must be solely dedicated to mastering the Prelims syllabus. The key is to focus on speed, accuracy, and question selection. The IBPS Clerk Prelims exam comes with three sections: English Language, Reasoning Ability, and Numerical Ability.

What to Do:

  • Daily 2 to 3 Hours Practice: Practice section-wise questions in timed sessions. (NOTE: You can revise and practice the main focus areas given below as per your abilities and interest.)
  • Focus on Basics and Speed: Strengthen fundamentals first, then move to time-bound practice.
  • Mock Test Routine: Take at least 2 mock tests per week in June, 3 per week in July-August, and 4+ per week in September.
  • Analyze Each Mock Test: Identify weak topics and work on them immediately.
  • Reading Habit for English: Read newspapers/editorials for vocabulary and comprehension skills.
  • Weekly Revision: Set aside Sundays to revise everything learned during the week.

Main Focus Areas:

  • Reasoning: Puzzles, syllogism, coding-decoding, inequalities.
  • Numerical Ability: Simplification, number series, DI, time-work, SI-CI.
  • English: Reading comprehension, error spotting, cloze test, para jumbles.

Phase 2: Mains Preparation Parallelly (From August 1 – October 3)

(Duration: 60 days overlap with Prelims prep)

Since the Mains exam is just 7 weeks after Prelims, you can’t afford to start Mains prep only after Prelims. You must overlap preparation smartly.

What to Do:

  • Allocate 1 Hour Daily to Mains Topics: Focus on General/Financial Awareness and Computer Aptitude—these take longer to build.
  • Read Banking Awareness Daily: Go through current affairs with a focus on banking, RBI updates, and government schemes.
  • Solve High-Level Reasoning & DI Weekly: Include tougher level puzzles, caselets, and seating arrangements once or twice a week.
  • Improve Typing Speed: Start typing practice if descriptive writing is part of your state bank version.

Key Focus Areas:

  • General/Financial Awareness: Banking terms, current affairs (last 6 months), static GK.
  • High-Level Quant & Reasoning: Caselets, multi-graph DI, critical reasoning.
  • Computer Aptitude: Basics of networking, shortcuts, MS Office, OS concepts.

Phase 3: Prelims Final Revision & Exam Readiness (Oct 1 – Oct 11)

(Duration: 10 Days)

Use this period to revise, strengthen your accuracy, and build exam temperament.

What to Do:

  • Take Daily Full-Length Mock Tests.
  • Focus on Attempt Strategy: What to skip, what to solve first, how to avoid negatives.
  • Do Sectional Revisions: Don’t leave even strong areas unpracticed.
  • Sleep Well & Stay Healthy. Fatigue ruins performance.

Post Prelims: Mains-Focused Preparation (Oct 12 – Nov 28)

(Duration: 45 Days)

Assuming you’ve cleared the Prelims (or confident you will), shift entirely to Mains mode.

What to Do:

  • General Awareness Marathon: Revise all current affairs of the last 6 months. Attempt daily quizzes.
  • Weekly Descriptive Practice: Practice writing letters and essays.
  • Advanced Mock Tests: Attempt full Mains mocks twice a week and analyze deeply.
  • Solve One DI & One Puzzle Daily: Maintain speed and sharpness.

Practical Tips to Clear IBPS Clerk 2025 Exam

Here are some smart tips that can help you manage your time well and cover the IBPS Clerk 2025 exam syllabus:

Don’t Over-prepare or Over-practice

This exam is not about learning everything deeply. It checks how fast and correctly you can apply what you already know. So, practice more than you read.

  • Don’t waste too much time reading notes again and again.
  • Focus on solving mock tests regularly.
  • After each mock test, check your mistakes and fix them.
  • Practice the real exam pattern to become faster.
  • Take short quizzes to keep your brain active.

Follow Your Daily Goals

Now that the exam will happen in October and November, you don’t have much time. So use each day wisely and follow your plan without delay.

  • Make a clear timetable having daily and weekly targets.
  • Don’t delay topics and complete everything on time.
  • Keep some days for revision and mock tests.
  • Mark exam dates on your calendar and plan backward.
  • Monitor your daily study time with a notebook or app.

Keep One Notebook for Each Subject

To revise quickly later, you should keep all important notes in one place. Use different notebooks for different subjects.

  • Keep one notebook for maths formulas and shortcuts.
  • Use another book for vocabulary and write 10 to 20 new words daily.
  • Make a separate notebook for current affairs and GK.
  • Use colors or stickers to highlight important points.
  • Revise these notebooks once every week.

Read Updates Every Day

You can score well in General Awareness if you study it every day. Reading everything at the last moment won’t help.

  • Read daily current affairs from a good source or app.
  • Write short notes for news, government schemes, etc.
  • Practice daily quizzes to test your memory.
  • Cover at least 5 to 6 months of news before the Mains exam.
  • Learn related static GK together with current events.

Ward off fatigue

Studying with full focus for a short time is better than studying for long hours without focus. Take breaks and take care of your health.

  • Use the Pomodoro method, which says you should study for 25 minutes and get a 5-minute break.
  • Sleep well every night to keep your mind fresh.
  • Change subjects to avoid getting bored.
  • Do small exercises or walks to relax.
  • Eat healthy and don’t ignore your body and mind.

Conclusion

The change in the IBPS Clerk 2025 exam dates has, without doubt, added urgency to preparation. But it also gives you a clear road to follow. With about three and a half months for Prelims and one month after that for Mains, you have just enough time to succeed—but only if you act smartly, now. Follow the revised strategy above with full commitment, focus on mock test practice, daily revision, and smart work over hard work, and you’ll be well on your way to clearing both Prelims and Mains.
