The exam is conducted in three phases: Prelims, Mains, and an Interview.
The Prelims exam consists of two sections: Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability.

The pay scale of the RRB PO is Rs. 23700-980/7-30560-1145/2-32850-1310/7-42020. This means that the basic pay of the RRB PO is Rs. 23700, which increases by Rs. 980 every year for seven years, then by Rs. 1145 for two years, then by Rs. 1310 for seven years, and finally reaches Rs. 42020. The basic pay is subject to revision as per the recommendations of the government.
The total salary of the RRB PO ranges from Rs. 36000 to Rs. 41000 per month, depending on the location and allowances. Apart from the salary, the RRB PO also enjoys other benefits, such as loan facilities, leave travel concession, medical reimbursement, gratuity, pension, etc.
