The complete step-by-step strategy, along with examples, is given below along with examples.
Read the sentence and try to understand the tone, inference, and context in which the sentence is all about.
Example:
The scientist was ______ for his contribution to medical research.
By reading the sentence, you get a positive vibe, then expect a positive word like honoured, applauded, etc. to be fitted here.
Before heading towards the options, try to predict the missing words by yourself; you will get better at this by practicing on alternate days. Think of a word which is grammatically and in contextually can be correct or fitted in the blanks given.
Start eliminating options that are not grammatically correct or do not match the tone of the sentence. Suppose if the sentence is in a negative tone, and you get an option which indicates a positive response, then eliminate that option first.
Words like effect vs affect, advice vs advise create a lot of difference in the meaning of the sentence, so choose wisely. Also, if you find any fancy vocabulary it is not coincide with the sentence, drop that option on a first-hand basis.
The words that go along naturally are called collocations. Example- Do a mistake is a wrong phrase, and the correct one is make a mistake. Similarly, not deeply appreciated is wrong, and the correct one is highly appreciated.
