Weightage & Importance in IBPS PO 2025

In the IBPS PO Prelims, Reasoning covers 35 questions, and the seating arrangement alone can take up 10 to 15 marks. In IBPS PO Mains, the difficulty increases with 4-5 puzzle sets, where 2-3 sets are based on seating arrangement and each carries 5 marks, making this a high-weightage topic. If you want to score 28–30+ in Prelims and 40–45+ in Mains Reasoning, seating arrangement mastery is non-negotiable.

Tips to Solve Difficult Seating Arrangement Questions

Here are some useful strategies:

  1. Start with direct clues: Always begin solving with fixed positions mentioned in the question.
  2. Use pencil and diagrams: Drawing clear diagrams helps visualize arrangements better.
  3. Identify definite vs. conditional clues: Tackle clues that place someone “exactly” before others first, then go to conditions like “somewhere to the left.”
  4. Practice variable-based puzzles: Include name, profession, color, or other variables to simulate the main difficulty.
  5. Avoid assumptions: Don’t assume anything unless mentioned.
  6. Mark multiple possibilities: If there are 2-3 possibilities, track them side-by-side. Eliminate the wrong ones as you move forward.
  7. Time yourself: Practice under a timer. Aim to solve 5-mark puzzles in 6–7 minutes.
  8. Revise regularly: Solve 1 puzzle daily from different types to stay in touch with the logic flow.
