Follow all phases systematically so that you can prepare this section effectively.

Phase 1: Building Concepts and Foundation

Your first week is all about building a solid and clear understanding of the basics. No need to hurry up and prepare hard topics in starting. It will just create rush, tension, and stress. Start your preparation with very simple topics and try to focus on one topic at a time.

• Get the Core Concepts Right: Start with the why and how of a computer. It’s not about deep theory, but a simple function. Understand the roles of the CPU (the brain), RAM (short-term memory for speed), and ROM (permanent memory for booting up). Know the basic difference between Hardware (things you can touch) and Software (programs). Keep in mind that your goal is quick revision and maximum question practice.

Phase 2: Practice for Speed and Accuracy

You have understood the basics and have some knowledge about computer fundamentals. Now it’s time to boost that knowledge and sharpen it by practicing some light questions and topic tests. You must build speed, accuracy, and familiarize yourself with the SSC’s question style.

• Topic-Wise Question Practice (Quantity and Quality): As of now, you have just understood the topic, but just understanding a topic is not enough. You should test your knowledge to see whether you have understood the topic clearly or not. For that, you need to take topic-wise tests and full-length mock tests.
