- The Union Education Minister, Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ addressed the ASEAN India Hackathon. The ASEAN-INDIA Hackathon was inaugurated to further strengthen the India and ASEAN ties.
- Union Environment Minister, Prakash Javadekar along with his French counterpart, Barbara Pompili has launched Indo-French Year of the Environment in New Delhi. Indo-French Year of the Environment is the Indo-French partnership on Environment, Biodiversity, Climate Change and other allied areas to be undertaken throughout 2021.
- The Central government has announced that, it will soon set up a new Centre for Wetland Conservation and Management (CWCM) in Chennai.
- The NITI Aayog has recently released its plan for Little Andaman. The plan is named as “Sustainable Development of Little Andaman Island Vision Document”. It has been planned for the sustainable and holistic development of the island in Andaman and Nicobar. The Little Andaman is a 680 sq km fragile Island in the Andaman&Nicobar.
STATES AFFAIRS
- The Chief Minister of Punjab, Captain Amarinder Singh, has launched the ‘Har Ghar Pani, Har Ghar Safai’ mission virtually. This mission is the part of the government’s campaign to complete the goal of 100 per cent potable piped water supply in all rural households by March 2022.
- The chief minister of Maharashtra has launched a scheme to boost the start-up ecosystem in Maharashtra. Apart from that, the government has also proposed to set up an international standard Center for the Skill Development in Mumbai. Further, to boost the skill development courses in ITIs are also being updated in a timely manner.
- Uttarakhand sets up first of its kind botanical garden named as ‘Shivalik Arboretum’ in Nainital for conserving over 210 species of trees found in Shivalik range of Himalayas.
- Andaman and Nicobar Islands has become first Union territory/region to become Covid-19 free in India with active cases falling to zero

- The SpaceX of Elon Musk has recently announced to launch its first all civilian mission to the space. The SpaceX is planning for the launch of Inspiration4 on Falcon 9. This would be the first all-commercial astronaut mission in the world.
- Facebook Inc. has appointed Henry Moniz as its first-ever Chief Compliance Officer.
- State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi along with President Win Myint and other members of ruling party has been detained in Myanmar’s military coup.
- Indian-American Bhavya Lal has been appointed as Acting Chief of Staff of US space agency National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). She will also serve as the senior advisor for budget and finance at NASA.
- United States-based Ford Motor Co has partnered with Alphabet Inc’s Google to cooperate in software, artificial intelligence, and cloud computing, developing new consumer services.
