In this section, we are going to discuss some revision tips that need to be followed while doing the revision for the upcoming exams.
As per the new pattern, reasoning has become the backbone of the mains paper. Puzzles, seating arrangements, input-output, and coded syllogisms are not just important, but they’re scoring as well. Practice them daily. Don’t just solve questions, analyse your approach; how you handle a particular question is also very important. Are you taking too long? Are you missing patterns? This is the time when you can focus on the concepts and the approach, along with where you lack?
DI is no longer just about numbers; it’s about logic, speed, and approximation. Caselets, missing DI, and arithmetic-based sets are common. Practice with a mix of moderate and difficult sets. Use a timer. Your goal should be to solve with accuracy under pressure. One of the most important things while solving the DIs is the choice of questions. What are your strengths and weaknesses? Are you able to solve caselets in 4-5 minutes, and that too with 90% accuracy? Then it is fine, but if you’re not able to do that, then it is just a waste of time. So the choice of question is also very important.
This section can make or break your score. Focus on the last 6 months of current affairs, especially banking and the economy. RBI updates, government schemes, and financial institutions should be at your fingertips. Use sectional mocks to test retention and recall power in terms of general awareness.
Reading comprehension, para jumbles, and cloze tests require a good grasp of context and vocabulary. Read editorials. Practice RCs with inference-based questions. Revise grammar rules, but don’t overdo it; focus on the application of those grammar rules. Practising questions in English is as important as any other section. As it helps much more when it comes to error detection questions. RC practice will help in the descriptive section as well.
You can’t wing the essay and comprehension section. Practice writing on topics like financial inclusion, digital banking, and social issues. Track your time. Structure matters, and so does clarity. Use editorials to build content and vocabulary. You need to write a comprehension in under 10-12 minutes, and this requires practice with knowledge. This can only be done by practising at least two essays on the assigned days. If you want guidance, you can join our IBPS PO Descriptive writing course, where you’ll get expert guidance and review of the essays written by you. What needs to be improved, what should you focus on and a lot more.
Don’t just take mocks, analyse them thoroughly. Identify weak areas. Are you losing marks in DI? Is your reasoning accuracy low? Note them down and work on them. Take at least 5 full-length mocks in the last 5 days. As they simulate real exam conditions. They will help you in building stamina and managing pressure that you might face in the exam hall.
If you’re also preparing for LIC AAO or IBPS Clerk, don’t panic. Most topics overlap. Use common areas like DI and English to your advantage. Just adjust the difficulty level. For PO Mains, focus on high-level reasoning and DI.
In the last 3 days, go easy. Revise short notes, formulas, and descriptive formats. Don’t touch new topics. Focus on confidence, clarity, and exam strategy. Sleep well. Eat well. You’ve done the work, now trust yourself and don’t overdo anything; otherwise, you will get exhausted, which is not good for the exam day performance.

Ideally, 1 full-length mock every alternate day and sectional tests daily. The key is to analyse mistakes rather than just attempting.
Give maximum time to General Awareness (last 6 months CA), Descriptive Writing, and high-weightage DI/Reasoning topics, as they carry the most marks in Mains.
Revise monthly CA PDFs (April–Sept 2025), RBI updates, schemes, banking awareness, and practice daily one-liners & quizzes for quick recall.
No. Avoid starting fresh topics. Focus only on revision, mock analysis, and strengthening strong areas to maximise accuracy.
Yes, if you have already cleared prelims, 20 days is sufficient for revision. The focus should be on GA, Descriptive Writing, DI, and Puzzles, along with daily mock test practice.
